Sarah Robinson is an architect practicing in San Francisco and Italy. She holds degrees in Philosophy with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Fribourg in Switzerland and an M.Arch from Taliesin, the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, where she served as the founding president of the Board of Trustees. She has written Nesting: Body, Dwelling, Mind, Mind in Architecture: Neuroscience, Embodiment and the Future of Design, with Juhani Pallasmaa and the forthcoming book, Home is Love, in addition to numerous literary and critical essays. She cofounded and edits the journal Intertwining and teaches in the NAAD program at IUAV in Venice.

Is PhD architect, senior lecturer at the «Ion Mincu» University of Architecture and Urban Planning from Bucharest. He is the editor of Arhitext architecture magazine, since its first issue from 1990. He is as well the editor of the following collections of architecture books: «Arhitext monographs» – 4 volumes, «Archive of Ideas» – 11 volumes, «Arhitext Books» – 6 volumes and the collection «Prospective Nostalgias» – 3 volumes. In the last 6 years he has been the coordinator (producer) of the architecture Festivals: InBetween, Inside / Insight Cultures, Tropisms, Fluencies and of the experimental workshops from Dealu Frumos: Assemblages I and II, Re-Start, Trans-architectures. By now, after an almost century of technological development and brave modernizations, it would be only honest to conclude that architectural discourse has given up its edge to architectural technology. Architectural practice that was firmly grounded on its cultural and social, ideological and symbolic, affective and emotional connotations has given way for pure logic of economic and technological denotations. The contemporary language of «cutting edge» architecture, despite all its technical superiority, is nothing but a porous frontier that is melting before contingent identities of the present citizen. With this open call for critical texts we are hoping to examine this tendency. We seek for practices that bravely dissect and cultivate that fragile frontier. Especially those that see architecture not as fixed technological and economic necessity but an open ended cultural practice.

Stefan C. Popa studied and actively engaged in architecture schools in Paris, Barcelona, Bucharest and London. Over a fourteen year period, he has taken part in the design of projects in Spain, Morocco, US, France and the UK, and collaborated with architects such as Carlos Ferrater and Partick Genard. He was a design team member with Arte et Carpentier in Paris and Foster + Partners in Madrid and London. Recently, Stefan taught in Oslo, Norway alongside Territorial Agency and was a research scholar at the Canadian Centre for Architecture. After graduating from the History and Critical Thinking MA Programme at the Architectural Association in London in 2014, he was invited to participate in academic juries both in the UK and abroad. He was also involved in design units and MA programmes within the AA and University of Cambridge. Since 2018, he holds a research PhD from the AA.

Architect, graduate of the «Ion Mincu» University of Architecture and Urbanism from Bucharest; he holds a Ph.D. in architecture with the study "Visions of Modernity in the Discourses of Romanian Architects, after 1989". Lecturer at «Ion Mincu» University, Design Fundamentals Department, member of the research team ACUM – Public Space and the Social Reinsertion of the Architectural and Artistic Project (coordinated by Ph.D. Prof. arch. Ana Maria Zahariade), within which he has published several studies. Curator of the «Bucharest: The Line of Flight’s Capital» exhibition, organized by Arhitext design Foundation in 2015 and collaborator of Arhitext review.

Marc Jay is a founding partner and owner of WE Achitecture in Copenhagen. He graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 2005 where he received the Barcelona peirs - icopal prize, for his final exam. Following the completion of his degree, Marc worked as a competition architect at Carmen Pinos in Barcelona. Upon leaving, he started working at Bjarke Ingles Group (BIG) in Copenhagen. Here, Marc worked as a project manager in the competition department for 2 years whilst fulfilling a management role as a member of the management team for the office. In 2009, he started the practice WE Architecture, with Julie Schmidt-Nielsen. The vision behind WE is to build landmark architecture that innovates and supports the framework of the community, where interaction between people is at the core, whilst also striving to lift the level of ambition for iconic and visionary buildings. The practice has in recent years, won a number of significant prizes for both competitions and smaller projects. Marc works uncompromisingly as a designer, and oversees the office’s day-to-day projects as the company’s creative director. He is the project and design manager for all the projects at WE - everything from private villas and luxury cottages, to a wide array of larger public works and multi residential developments. Aside from managing his private practice, Marc also lectures and runs workshops world wide.

Since 2002, Andrei Șerbescu has been teaching within the design studios of the Bucharest’s University of Architecture and Urbanism Ion Mincu.

Romanian writer, poet and translator; recipient of several awards, among which: the Award of the Romanian Union of Writers, in 1997, for the poetry volumes “Poemul cu latura de un metru” (Cartea Românească Publishing House, 1996) and “Arta consumului” (Cartea Românească Publishing House, 1996), in 2003 the Award of the Romanian Union of Writers for the translations from Charles Baudelaire, “Inima mea dezvăluită” (Est Publishing House, 2002) and Henri Bergson, “Energia spirituală” (Meridiane Publishing House, 2002) and in 2004 the “Cultural Merit” order in the rank of chevalier bestowed by the president of Romania; curator of the 2011 Fluencies exhibition.

Cristina graduated from the Architecture school in Bucharest in 2005 and completed her PhD in Architecture at UAUIM in 2012. Since 2007 she is a founding member and partner of ABRUPTARHITECTURA, an architectural practice focused on the topic of the domestic topos and finding familiarity in the built context. Many ABRUPTARHITECTURA projects have been recognized and awarded on the occasion of national and international architecture events: Mies van der Rohe Finalist Award in 2013, Challenge of the Time Award - Iakov Chernikhov International Prize for Young Architects nomination in 2012, and have received the award of various contest sections at the Bucharest National Architecture Biennale 2012, The 2011 Annual Architecture in Bucharest and the National Order of Architects in Prahova Awards 2001-2012. At the same time, she has been teaching at UAUIM since 2005 in the design studio in Bucharest and Sibiu, being concerned about an education that encourages a well suited approach of the given context that architecture works with.

Founded Z-level in 1994, a studio operating in the fields of architecture, landscape and museography. Z-level, now a well-established practice based in Athens, has a strong focus on innovative ideas combined with an awareness of ecological, social and financial aspects of sustainability. It has completed an exciting range of projects for both Greek and international clients, and collaborated with organizations and institutions for the study and implementation of social and cultural projects both at a small and large scale. These have included museums and exhibition spaces, housing and interior design, urban planning and landscape design. The award-winning work of the practice has appeared in several exhibitions and the international press. Studied architecture at Ecole d’Architecture Paris-Villemin, where she specialized in cultural buildings and activities. During her postgraduate studies at the Ecole d'architecture Paris - La Villette - she dealt with sustainable environmental design and landscape architecture.

Graduated in 1997 from the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. Since 2007 she has been working with the architect Igor Pedišić. From 2007 she worked as a lecturer and then as an assistant professor the Faculty of Architecture in Split. She has been actively engaged with architecture since 2000 and has participated in numerous tenders, exhibitions and projects realized in architecture and public space. She received professional awards in Croatia and abroad. Notable awards: Piranesi mentions at the Piran Days of Architecture, the Vladimir Nazor annual award, Drago Galic Award for the best achievement in the field of residential architecture, Silver Plate for best achievements of young European architects at the European Architecture Award Luigi Cosenza. Along with the recent nominations for the Croatian architectural, she is a laureate of the Bernardo Bernardi award and the international award at the East Centric Architecture Triennale.
